5 More: Boy's Formal Wear Sewing Patterns

My little brother (and by little I mean 6'4") got married a few weeks ago. His wedding coincided perfectly with Easter outfit season. It is a rare occasion when my little boy needs something fancier than his usual Sunday sweater and button-down shirt. I shopped around for a blazer, and  couldn't believe the prices. My cheapskate tendency has initiated many sewing projects (see my planning post here). For this one, I decided on the Oliver + S Art Museum Vest in a lovely linen pin stripe (more on that later). Boys casual wear patterns are all over the internet. The Art Museum Vest is one of the few formal patterns for boys. Here are 5 more:

Berkshire Blazer - Blank Slate Patterns
Blank Slate has several great little boy dress-up options. I picked this one because of the cute over-sized plaid styling. I can see it worn over a button down or polo long after Easter.

Boys Blazer - Burda
Just the basic design I was looking for.

Boys Vest Pattern and Tutorial - The Mother Huddle
This collared vest has the more formal look of a jacket.

Boy's Pleated Trousers - Burda
The suspenders with these classic pleated pants, add a little extra interest to easily boring dark trousers.

Skinny Necktie Pattern - Pox Couture
There are lot of necktie patterns out there for boys. This one has a nice retro skinny profile.

Boy's Bow Tie - Red Pajamas
The oversized proportion of this bow tie makes it a lot more fun than your typical tuxedo.

What are you sewing for boys this spring? I have a list a mile long of sweet little dresses, and bubble shorts for L's summer play clothes, but I'm at a loss for what to make J. How many t-shirts does one boy need?!

What's up with 5 More
I suspect that if I'm up into the wee hours of the night searching for a certain style of sewing pattern, others are probably shopping for it, too. With the 5 More series I try to sift through the mountains of patterns in search of 5 safe bets, for good results.
