The full video tutorial for the Annin Scrunchie Bag sewing pattern is now on the Wholecloth Patterns Youtube channel. I'll walk you step by step through sewing a this cute bag with drawstrings, long fabric straps to wear on the shoulder or crossbody and a pouffy gathered bottom. It's a quick, beginner friendly sewing project that you can finish in an afternoon and lightens up any outfit. I'm sewing Annins in floral prints for spring. Magazine sewing instruction are brief by nature, so I've added extra detail to the sewalong. I demonstrate how to use the gathering guide to get maximum pouf along the bag bottom, and show you how I add the pleat that gives the bag it's scrunch. This is an easy beginner level sewing pattern. Even if you've never sewn more than a pillowcase, the video will smooth the way for makers of all sewing levels.
The video instructions are available to everyone, but you'll need a copy of the pattern to follow along.

Fabric and Supplies for this Beginner Sewing Project
The ideal main fabric for the Annin Bag is a mid-weight woven with a crisp structure between 6-8 ounces per yard. You can use canvas, or linen, or denim, or even corduroy. The fabric used for the bags in the video are listed below.
Baby Wale Corduroy - 4.5 oz/yd (similar)
Mid weight linen - 7.1 oz/yd(similar)
Mid weight denim - 6.5 oz/yd (similar)
Light weight canvas - 8.5 oz/yd
